04 January 2022

A year full of projects of distinction, 2021 brought to Jota Barbosa Interiors the best clients, with the most ambitious ideas, which resulted in sublime projects. We highlight the project of the year, the Marques da Silva House.

From the complexity of the execution of the work to the prominent aesthetic style of the space to the preferences of our clients, this 20th-century house, with a minimalist and elegant interior design, provided a distinctive and noble project, as never seen before.

With your eyes set on a true masterpiece, know now all the details of this extraordinary project and let yourself be inspired.

Complexity of the execution of the work

Built in the 20th century, the Marques da Silva House was part of a housing rehabilitation project, which aimed to preserve the original structure and geometry of the building, located in downtown Porto. The focus was to give a new life to this space, seeking to create more comfortable, luminous, and efficient areas.

Jota Barbosa’s interior design team took on this interior design challenge with the highest enthusiasm, realizing a project that would maintain the historical identity of the space, but that would meet the client’s preferences and needs.

Choice of Interior Design style

The particularities of this project focused on the combination of the restoration of the historical elements, particularly the worked ceilings, the wooden frames, and the murals in the entry hall, with the functionality and comfort that a modern house should include.

The decoration of this space demanded certain care and attention from the team when choosing the decoration style. The most important thing was that the aesthetics and light points of the different areas stood out and that we could see the personality of our clients spread in every corner.

Our clients’ selection was for a Scandinavian style. A style oriented to a clean, minimalist, cozy and natural design, with sober lines, high-quality products, and finishes. With the predominance of neutral colors, which transmit simplicity and comfort in the environments.

The customization of the furniture foresaw the exaltation of the high quality of the natural wood, the laths, and the upholstery of the armchairs and sofas, in beige plain fabric. Following an aesthetic line made possible the harmonious combination of the various materials selected for the house.

The elegant Scandinavian living room

The living room included a spacious interior, with large windows that allow natural light to warm, paint and illuminate every nook and cranny. The neutral tones, mainly grey and green, the sculpted ceilings, and the straight lines of most of the pieces gave a sober and modern air to this interior space.

The Natur armchair, in beige tones and natural straw, together with the versatile Olivier table, conferred functionality to the space. The James sofa in textured fabric, and the Ryan TV cabinet with fluted surfaces, brought harmony and balance to the decoration.

A multifunctional and unique dining room

Of all the spaces that the interior design team Jota Barbosa decorated, this one had a special taste. The pleasure it brought in idealizing this open space living room for the dining room and kitchen, the balance of the tones, the materials of the furniture, and all the surrounding decoration represent the success of this project.

In the dining room, we emphasize the custom table in natural wood and the Natur chairs upholstered in beige fabric.

The Hilary sofa, a best-seller of the brand, was the key piece of this space, together with the Sahara coffee tables and the Ryan sideboard made a timeless living area.

A reading corner with a breathtaking view

A reading corner for lovers of individual moments and personal reflection, overflowing with natural light radiating the whole area magnificently. The Olivia chaise longue was the perfect selection for this comfort zone, offering a more intimate and private space to the environment.

Highlighted in the Architecture Space

This rehabilitation project carried out by Franca Arquitetura stood out on the Espaço de Arquitetura platform, a space for mentioning renowned projects, which are distinguished by their uniqueness and refinement. It should be noted that this project was awarded the Baku Award, a prestigious international architecture prize.

Jota Barbosa Interiors can add to this beautiful villa a touch of sophistication and functionality, through its furniture pieces, which made all the difference in the final result.
