Euroluce | The Art of Lighting

05 June 2025

Lighting has long moved beyond its purely functional role, becoming a key aesthetic feature that adds character to any room. However, the interior design industry has elevated this decorative element to a new level, transforming lighting solutions into authentic works of art.

Among dazzling pendant lights and sophisticated table lamps, this year’s Euroluce transformed into an art gallery, filled with pieces crafted to the smallest detail, combining technology with artisanal techniques passed down from generation to generation.

For those who couldn’t attend, this is your invitation to discover the trends and innovations that defined the event.

Euroluce – The Event

Euroluce is an International Lighting Exhibition that takes place biennially during Milan Design Week, specifically during Salone del Mobile. This event brings together international leaders in the lighting sector. First held in 1976, it has been the meeting point for design enthusiasts over the past decades, showcasing innovations and trends that will be adopted until the next edition.

With over 300 exhibitors, filled with magnificent designs, this is the most prestigious event in the lighting sector. It tracks the evolution of light in domestic and urban spaces while fostering a constant dialogue between research, innovation, and design culture.

Euroluce 2025 was particularly notable for the debut of the Euroluce International Lighting Forum. Under the theme “Light for Life. Light for Spaces,” the forum brought together over twenty international specialists — including lighting designers, architects, artists, biologists, psychologists, and even astronomers — for debates, master classes, round tables, and workshops. The goal was to foster a deeper and multidisciplinary understanding of the future of lighting, not just as technology but as a human experience.

The forum’s program was structured to address fundamental themes such as the interaction between light and architecture, light and well-being, and the integration of lighting into sustainable projects for public and private spaces. Each future edition of Euroluce is committed to delving deeper into different aspects of lighting design, providing not only inspiration but also practical tools to create more inclusive, conscious spaces adapted to contemporary challenges.

In addition to the big names in the sector, Euroluce also makes space for small businesses and international startups, promoting creative diversity and encouraging continuous research into new light sources, technical solutions, and technological potential. This synergy between tradition and innovation transforms the fair into a true living laboratory of lighting design, highlighting the social, cultural, and environmental transformations of our times.

Exhibited Lighting Trends

The 32nd edition of Euroluce revealed new trends set to shape interior design and how we interact with light in our spaces. More than just a technological showcase, the event reaffirmed light as a central element of well-being, sustainability, and aesthetic experience.

Among a variety of trends, e highlight the following:

Return of the 70s: Inspired by the curved shapes, warm colors, and tactile textures that defined 1970s design, this trend reappears with a contemporary approach.

Art Deco Style: Numerous designers chose to reinterpret this style with modern materials and cutting-edge technology, combining functionality with a strong visual impact.

Interaction in Well-being Spaces: The concept of well-being in design was heavily explored, not only at Euroluce but throughout the entire fair, with lighting solutions that interact with the environment and the people using it.

Visual Comfort: The pursuit of visual comfort gained prominence, with a focus on UGR (Unified Glare Rating), as meticulously designed pieces and anti-glare technology dominated the stands.

Outdoor Lighting: An emerging trend that balances technical resilience with refined aesthetics, making light an extension of architecture even outdoors.

Brands That Made a Difference

Serip

Once again, the Portuguese brand presented a conceptual theme, creating a space where “nothing is alike, yet everything belongs.” It was a space that invited contemplation, where each dazzling pendant light transformed the ambiance into an unparalleled sensory experience. The brand created a setting that evoked emotions and completely enveloped us, encouraging us to live each moment intensely.

J. Adams

J. Adams & Co. unveiled an unprecedented collaboration under the name Fourfold, a fusion of talents that brought together four brands of excellence – J. Adams & Co, BOMAT, Bieke Casteleyn, and Designs of the Time. The result was an immersive experience centered on the theme “Timeless Modernity,” translated into pieces that explore various contrasts: sculptural and functional, bold and refined.

Marset

Marset presented its new collection through an immersive architectural experience that perfectly captured the brand’s theme for the event: “Light builds Life.” The stand was designed with eight exhibition structures, each functioning as an individual habitat for the showcased luminaires, allowing visitors to explore every detail and nuance of each piece. This disruptive concept precisely captured the energy the brand aimed to convey — “Open, sustainable, and radical.”

Once again, Euroluce reaffirms itself as much more than a lighting exhibition. It’s a stage where design, innovation, and culture intertwine to redefine how we experience light.

Through bold installations, creative collaborations, and multidisciplinary debates, the event demonstrates that lighting is a living art, capable of transforming spaces and awakening sensations.
