Small but cozy, the hotel’s entrance hall was designed to combine functionality and character. Although it is, most of the time, just a place of passage, this is where the first impression is formed. The wallpaper with stork illustrations conveys the intended energy, affirming from the first moment that this is an environment full of life. The Grace armchairs, with their contemporary design, establish a sophisticated contrast, along with the circular design of the Club side table.
Enveloped in a palette of greens and oranges and accented with warm wood finishes, the Nature Suite is inspired by the region’s natural beauty. It pays homage to the ancient culture that is intertwined with the local flora. The London bed, upholstered in a linen fabric with delicate floral embroidery, a motif also featured on the decorative cushions on the sofa, reinforces the room’s theme, as does the consistent use of organic lines. Nature reveals itself as the primary inspiration behind every choice, from furniture pieces like the matte lacquered Natur and Club side tables to the window frames that subtly echo the silhouette of a leaf. The en-suite bathroom follows the same aesthetic, providing everything you might need throughout your stay.
Inspired by the pure air of Macedo de Cavaleiros, a result of the region’s rivers and green spaces, the Atmosphere Suite envelops guests in the lightness and comfort of something often forgotten: the atmosphere itself.
The London bed, intentionally placed at the center of the room, was customized with a fil coupé fabric that gives it a unique texture, evoking a nomadic spirit, ethereal like the breeze. The Natur side tables were placed immediately beside it, adapted to serve as nightstands, with an oak base and a travertine marble top that creates a polished ambiance. The Sublime pouf completes the space, adding softness and comfort while also serving as an additional seat in the dressing area. The bathroom is separated by smoked glass, allowing for a degree of privacy while maintaining a sense of fluidity between the two areas.
The unusual name of this suite sparks a curiosity that is presented with an exceptional design element: a textured wallpaper with a touch reminiscent of animal hides. As a true tribute to the regional gastronomy of Trás-os-Montes, this suite welcomes guests with a curated selection of the best places to eat and drink in the area.
The room gives full prominence to this striking element, while the rest of the decor remains in neutral tones, highlighting the sophistication and balance of the space. In this setting, the versatile Steel side tables take on the role of night tables next to the London bed, this time, upholstered in leather. The Sublime pouf also makes another appearance, now in a brownish hue similar to the color of the wallpaper. In this suite, the division between the sleeping area and the self-care space is more pronounced, thanks to a wall that separates the two areas, making it ideal for guests who value their privacy.
At the top of the building lies the Culture Suite, a true ode to Portuguese literature. From quotes by iconic figures linked to the region to books rich in deep cultural value, this space perfectly reflects the ethos of the BHB Boutique House. The asymmetrical staircase immediately catches the eye, leading guests to the hotel’s terrace, where they can enjoy a magnificent view of the Serra de Bornes mountain range. The suite itself is composed of three distinct areas: the bedroom, a small lounge space, and the bathroom. Despite the predominance of white, the introduction of color was crucial to achieving the desired effect in the room’s decor. The wallpaper, applied to the ceiling, makes the space more captivating and creates a refined visual harmony, especially in concert with the headboard of the bed.
The bathroom aligns with the aesthetic of the other suites, but this one, in particular, features both a shower and a bathtub, allowing guests to choose whichever they prefer.
The BHB Boutique House features an integrated reception and lounge bar, making it the perfect spot to end your day in an intimate and tranquil way. A balance of warm hues and dark colors creates an inviting atmosphere, encouraging guests to settle into the comfort of the upholstered banquettes that line the wall.
A striking mural serves as the accent wall, a refined interpretation of a cave painting. Its warm tones are intensified by the soft, yellow light that illuminates the space. The counter, which departs from conventional minimalist designs, presents a pale green that elegantly converses with the burnt‑orange walls and the deep‑green Milos bar stools. To complete the space, black accents were introduced, visible in the appliances, the wall-adorned wine rack, and the subtle divider that separates the reception from the bar.
On the ground floor, there’s a psychology office that belongs to the owner of the BHB Boutique House. In contrast to the design of the other rooms in the hotel, this space embraces an aesthetic of simplicity and serenity.
The abundance of natural light highlights the neutral tones, creating an atmosphere of lightness and tranquility. The clean lines of the furniture reinforce this peaceful energy, in perfect harmony with the comfort of the Fortune swivel chairs, which were chosen to ensure the well-being of the patients. The Sublime pouf, with its subtle pattern, was added to provide a touch of tactile interest and complete the elegance of the space.
BHB Boutique House is a celebration of identity, comfort, and sensory experience.
The most striking feature of the project is, without a doubt, the five themed rooms, each inspired by the heritage of Macedo de Cavaleiros. Spread across three floors, each room provides a distinct experience, allowing guests to discover a part of the region’s cultural legacy without ever leaving the comfort of the hotel.
The realization of this concept is rooted in thoughtful design, where every detail reinforces and brings to life the vision chosen for the project.
