Tips for Organising and Decorating Chests of Drawers
The dresser is one of the most important pieces of furniture in defining the style of the room. However, in many cases, the top of the dresser becomes the place for scattered jewelry, books and everyday papers – in other words, the place for clutter.
If this describes the state of your dresser, then your room is not as peaceful, nor as attractive as it could be. These tips will help you organize and decorate your dresser in the best way.
Empty drawers
The first step in the dresser organizing process is to get everything out from the bottom of the drawers, so you know what you have and what you need to keep. This is also a good time to dust the inside of your dresser drawers to prepare them for storing your clean clothes. Sort through the items you have and those you want to do without. It is crucial to have this area organized.
Organise by category
The ideal way to organize your dressers is to make an inventory of the items you are storing. Put in each drawer a specific type of clothes, for example, a drawer for t-shirts, one for underwear, and so on.
Divide the items into categories, taking into account the drawers you have available and also considering how much will fit in each drawer. Within the categories, you can sort the items by color, size, if you wish and if you have the space.
Don’t put everything on top of the chest of drawers
To maintain a tidy look, don’t leave everything you own on top of the dresser. This area should be practical and clutter-free.
Approach the top of the dresser as a place for decoration rather than storage. It is a good space to store some accessories or perfume bottles, as long as you display them in an elegant and organized way. A sophisticated tray to hold items you use regularly can be both decorative and functional.
Invest in the decorative elements
With all this space organized and tidy, the next step is to bet on the decorative elements, in a planned and thoughtful way. There are several elements you can choose from to make this space even more interesting and irreverent, namely
- Tall floor plans
- Works of art standing on the dresser or leaning against the wall

Marie Kondo Method
The KonMari method is a philosophy that encourages people to let go of items that no longer have a happy purpose to their lives and to keep only those that are meaningful.
A fascinating aspect of this method is that it associates home organization and balance with inner peace and the feeling that everything is aligned. This proposal aims for a real detachment from everything that no longer serves us.
